8th Grade Tubing Trip
Topic: 8th Grade Band Tubing Trip
Where: Paoli Peaks, Paoli, IN
When: 4:00 pm – 9:30 pm on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014
I have been so impressed with our 8th grade. I will hate to see them move on, but we have a lot to look forward to this spring. Our next event is a trip to Paoli Peaks to reward the band students for playing at the fall concert and working hard in class. Students need to currently have at least an average conduct grade in class. Those that received a poor conduct grade in band on the last progress report or have earned one since the last report should not go.
This trip will be to go tubing and not to ski or snow board. The cost is $30 to cover pizza after school, a 3 hour snow tube session and buses. We hope to leave at 4:00 pm and return around 9:30 pm on Friday, Feb. 28. Students that sold Cookie Dough in the fall will pay just $20. Students can bring clothes to change into at school or run home to change and return by 4:00. (pizza may be gone by the time they return at 4:00)

HS Band
The high school offers several playing opportunities for our students. These opportunities include three concert bands, jazz ensembles, pep band, marching band and other honor ensembles around the state. We have tremendous talent here at BMS and I urge all our students to use these talents in high school to fulfill a required fine arts credit for graduation.
We have received the audition music for the top high school concert band and jazz ensemble. The top concert band is known as the Wind Ensemble or Blue Band. Students wishing to audition for Blue Band or a jazz ensemble will do so next week. The Blue Band and jazz ensembles are the only bands that have auditions. Students do not need to audition for the other bands. Most students sign up for the freshman concert band and I hope several will sign up for the marching band. I help the marching band and would love to see our students participate.
