Congratulations 6th Grade Band –

Congratulations to our 6th grade beginning band students for a tremendous first concert. You did a wonderful job and I’m very proud of you. You have come so far in just a few weeks.

The next 6th grade performance will be for the NLCS Fine Arts Festival. The festival begins April 3, 2017 and we will perform on Tuesday, April 4.

Congratulations to IBA Honor Band Performers –

Congratulations to Marcus Allen (bass clarinet), Kimberly Jenkins (trumpet), DJ Kirby (clarinet), Maggie Lewis (bari sax), Andrew Lindell (trumpet), Davis Miller (trombone), Jordan Strunk (trombone), and Elizabeth Zhang (flute). You had a great concert and represented our program very well. I am very proud of you and appreciate all you did to prepare for the weekend. A big thank you goes out to your parents, families and friends for getting you back and forth to Jasper and attending the concert.

ISSMA Solo and Ensemble –

It is time for our 7th and 8th grade band members to sign up for the ISSMA Solo and Ensemble Festival. It will be held at Bloomington HS North on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017. It is a very educational and rewarding experience for band students to participate in. More information is available at the band office for those interested. This is not a required event. It will involve extra practice time and lessons so students need to give this some serious thought before committing. We do have a deadline of Nov. 28 to return forms and fees.

Cookie Dough Money Due –

The cookie dough fundraiser has come to an end and the money is now past due. The sale was a huge success, but now we have the job of collecting all the money. Thank you to all that helped with this project.

Every Day is Thanksgiving –

This time of the year is a great time to reflect on everything we are so thankful for. I do this every morning as the school day begins. I love my job and working with the band students at BMS. I am thankful for the opportunity to see them every day and a smile comes across my face every time I think of them.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
