Annual Big Splash Trip on Monday, April 15 –
Our Big Splash trip is upon us and the deadlines have passed. The kids have turned in forms and fees and our final preparations are finished up. The cost is $25 and it covers supper at the water-park, swimming and buses. Everyone that participated in either the fall cookie dough fundraiser or the spring butter braid fundraiser can deduct $5 from the cost for helping with the fundraiser and pay just $20. There has been a delay in our departure to accommodate some bus routes, but we hope to leave by 4:30 pm and return around 9:00 pm on Monday, Apr. 15. We will be the only ones in the water park, along with the Big Splash lifeguards and staff. Here is a link to more information and a permission form: https://bedfordmsband.com/big-splash-info-2013/. The permission forms were due to the band office by Friday, April 12.
6th Grade Band Fine Arts Festival April 16 –
I am excited about next week’s Fine Arts Festival. The 6th Grade Band will be combined with the bands from Shawswick and Oolitic to perform this year. The festival will be at the BNL Performing Arts Center from April 15 – 18. The 6th grade band will perform on Tuesday, April 16. The students will ride buses to BNL the morning of the performance to rehearse together for the concert that night. That night the students will report to BNL at 6:30 pm to prepare for the concert at 7 pm. After School Lessons –
I am available many days after school for free lessons. We have 6th grade students working on the Fine Arts Festival music. There are often playing tests for all the bands during class time. The lessons are available until 4:00 and I can help our students on whatever they need help with. Next week I’ll be available after school on Thurs. 4-18 and Fri. 4-19.
Upcoming Concerts at Indiana University –
One of the best music schools in the world is just 18 miles up the road. The concert bands at IU offer free concerts and they are a great way to spend the evening. Our students would learn a lot by going to these concerts. If you ever have some free time consider attending an IU concert.
Here are some upcoming opportunities:
Apr. 18 the IU Spring Festival of Winds, Brass and Percussion at 8:00 in the MAC.
Apr. 20 the IU Young Winds at 9:30am in the MAC room MC036. (Some BMS Band students perform with this group)
Have a great week!
