End of the year instrument details

The end of the school year is coming up faster than we would like here in the band department. It is always so hard to let go for the summer. Here are few items dealing with end of the year instrument care.

Most of the students in the process of purchasing from Paige’s Music have free maintenance and care for the instruments. Now would be a great time to have the instrument sent in to be cleaned and adjusted for next year. Paige’s comes down every Monday around 12:30 and we have just two Mondays left in the school year. If you would like to take advantage of what you are already paying for just call the toll-free number 1-800-382-1099. Ask to have a free loaner brought down to BMS and have your instrument picked up to be cleaned and adjusted. Paige’s won’t visit the school on Monday, May 30 due to Memorial Day.

I believe the students renting from Melody Music for the school year need to return the instruments on May 31 for the summer.

Students playing school instruments will turn them in at school. They will be evaluated and then sent to the shop this summer for any needed repairs. When the students return in the fall the instruments will be available and ready to go.

Students with personal horns will need to take them home for the summer. They will be safer at home where you can keep an eye on them and where the climate can be better controlled.

Brass players should make sure to keep the mouthpiece off the instrument and make sure valves and slides move or are taken out for summer. Woodwinds should make sure to take the reed off the mouthpiece for the summer.
